PLANTS, a podcast series, features Indigenous herbalists, wildcrafters, conservationists and activists who enlighten the Young and Indigenous (YAI) audience about the significance of seeking natural healing remedies, adopting safe harvesting practices, and finding solutions for restoration and balance in our environments. Plants should be respected in a holistic sense as they are providers of all life from the forest, prairie, and sea. Additionally, PLANTS aims to educate the YAI audience on the traditional uses of Native plants and how Native Science and traditional ecological practices persist in contemporary times. Native Sciences and ecological knowledge should be regarded in the same respects as Western Science and the shift in conservation philosophies as well as the innate natural relationship with plants, expressed by our non-indigenous allies in the series, proves just that.  It is the hope of Young and Indigenous that the audience will also gain a deeper understanding of respect, generosity, gratitude and responsibility around plants and the planet.

PLANTS provides a platform for the Young and Indigenous (YAI) audience to gain some insights into the traditional uses of plants from Indigenous knowledge keepers in their territories. The educational aspect aligns with the STI (Since Time Immemorial) mandate for Washington schools and other educational initiatives, contributing to a richer understanding of Indigenous practices and their significance to our ecosystem.

Listen to the PLANTS series to discover the significance of being a responsible community member, covering topics such as ethical harvesting, plant sovereignty, conservation, and diverse plant philosophies. Gain knowledge about how Indigenous and non-Indigenous people integrate plants into their lives in allyship for the greater good of our home.
